Rockhurst falls to Lewis in GLVC title match

The Rockhurst Hawks jumped out to an early lead before falling to the Lewis Flyers, 3-1, in the championship match in the GLVC Women's Volleyball Tournament Sunday in Williamsville, Illinois.

The Hawks (21-7) will await the announcement of the NCAA Division II Tournament bracket Monday at 6:30 p.m. Rockhurst was ranked third in the latest Midwest Regional rankings.

Rockhurst won the first set, 25-12, while posting a .379 hitting percentage. The Flyers won the next three sets, holding to the Hawks to 47 points and a .077 hitting percentage. Lewis (22-10) has won the last four GLVC Tournaments.

Chloe Tyrrell led the Hawks with 13 kills and six digs. Sarah Pyle collected 10 kills and 12 digs. Tera Reberry posted 10 kills and two blocks. Alyssa McDonald added seven kills.

Maureen Reilly had a team-high 19 digs. Sarah Montague tallied for 25 assists and 17 digs. Molly Trachta added 12 assists and five digs.

Tyrrell and Montague were named to the All-Tournament team.
