Rockhurst falls short in five sets in NCAA opening match

The Rockhurst volleyball team fell in five sets to Lewis in the first round of the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Midwest Regional Thursday night at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan.

Lewis won the first set, 25-18. The Hawks (21-8) evened the match with a 25-17 win in the second set. The Flyers took a 2-1 lead with a 25-22 victory in the third set. Rockhurst rallied from a 19-13 deficit to post a 25-22 win in the fourth set.

The Flyers (23-10) ended the match on a 9-1 run to win the fifth set, 15-7.

Freshman Chloe Tyrrell led the Hawks with 14 kills and 11 digs. Sarah Pyle collected 13 kills and five digs. Tera Reberry posted nine kills and four blocks. Ali Olson tacked on seven kills and three blocks.

Maureen Reilly had a team-high 22 digs and three service aces. Molly Trachta tallied for 19 assists. Sarah Montague added 17 assists and eight digs.
