Hawks edge Quincy 3-2 to advance to GLVC finals

Freshman Chloe Tyrrell posted four of her team-high 19 kills in the fifth set to lead Rockhurst to a 3-2 victory over 21st-ranked Quincy in the semifinals of the GLVC Tournament Saturday in Williamsville, Illinois.

The fourth-seeded Hawks (21-6) will face third-seeded Lewis (21-10) at noon Sunday in the GLVC championship match. Rockhurst has now won 13 of its last 14 matches.

Rockhurst captured the fifth set, 15-12, with Tyrrell getting a kill on the final point of the match. The Hawks won the first two sets, 25-19 and 25-23. Quincy rallied to win the third and fourth sets, 25-15 and 25-23.

Alyssa McDonald collected 12 kills and a .370 hitting percentage. Tera Reberry tallied 11 kills and six blocks. Sarah Pyle had 10 kills and 18 digs. Kenzie Hines posted 10 digs and Hannah Graves added eight blocks.

Maureen Reilly had a team-high 27 digs. Sarah Montague and Molly Trachta combined for 48 assists and 24 digs.

Rockhurst finished with 60 kills, 93 digs and 11 team blocks.
