The Rockhurst women's volleyball team defeated No. 18 Quincy 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at Mason-Halpin Fieldhouse. This is the team's ninth win in a row, their longest streak since 2019.
After three ties at 24-24, 25-25 and 26-26, Rockhurst won the first set 28-26 with kills by
Tera Reberry and
Ali Olson, respectively.
Sarah Pyle had six kills to lead Rockhurst in the first set while
Sarah Montague had nine assists.Â
Maureen Reilly, Pyle, Montague, Reberry, Olson and
Molly Trachta combined for 22 digs in the first set. No. 18 Quincy won the second set, 25-21.Â
Rockhurst won the third set, 25-23. They held the lead for the entire set after starting on a 5-1 run and used an additional 4-0 run to create a 9-2 early lead. Reilly had five digs and Pyle had six kills in the third set.
A 5-0 run and an 8-0 run allowed Rockhurst to begin the fourth set up 15-3. Rockhurst went on to win the fourth set 25-14 and the match 3-1. Pyle and
Chloe Tyrrell each led Rockhurst with five kills in the fourth set.
Three finished with 10 or more kills overall as Pyle led Rockhurst with 21 kills, Reberry notched 16Â and Tyrrell had 11. Two finished a total of 20 or more assists, as Montague had 26 and Trachta recorded 22.Â
Reilly (24) and Montague (13) led Rockhurst in digs. As a team, Rockhurst finished with 61 kills, 58 assists, 24 blocks and 69 digs.Â
Next weekend, Rockhurst (17-5, 8-2 GLVC) travels to Southwest Baptist on Friday, Nov. 8 and to Drury on Saturday, Nov. 9.Â
