Balanced attack leads Hawks to eighth straight win

Rockhurst posted its eighth consecutive victory with a 3-0 victory over Illinois Springfield Friday night at Mason-Halpin Field House.

The Hawks won the first set, 25-15, behind 10 digs from Maureen Reilly. Sarah Pyle and Chloe Tyrrell each had five kills to lead Rockhurst to a 25-20 win in the second set. The Hawks closed out the match with a 25-15 win in the third set with Tyrrell getting six kills.

Tyrrell led the Hawks with 13 kills, a .370 hitting percentage and 11 digs. Pyle posted 12 kills, a .423 hitting percentage and nine digs. Tera Reberry collected nine kills and a .421 hitting percentage. Ali Olson and Alyssa McDonald combined for 13 kills and eight blocks.

Reilly tallied 24 digs and seven assists. Sarah Montague and Molly Trachta combined for 41 assists and 13 digs.

Rockhurst finished with 50 kills, 61 digs and nine team blocks. The Hawks (16-5, 7-2 GLVC) host 18th-ranked Quincy Saturday at 3 p.m.
