Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Late rally by Hawks falls short at home

Drury scored two goals in the first six minutes and added a penalty kick in the second half to edge Rockhurst, 3-2, in men's soccer play Friday night at Bourke Field.

The Hawks cut Drury's lead to 3-2 on a goal by Blake Barrick with 2:16 left in the game. Barrick's third goal of the season was a 10-yard shot off a right cross from Immanuel Wayoro.

Jacopo Belardo put Rockhurst on the board when he converted on a penalty kick for his sixth goal of the season in the 21st minute. The PK was awarded after Drury was issued a red card for denying a goal scoring opportunity and played with 10 players in the final 69 minutes.

The Panthers scored their third goal in the 58th minute on a penalty kick after the Hawks fouled a Drury attacker in the box.

Rockhurst outshot the Panthers, 24-4. Barrick and Rhys Laws led the Hawks with five shots apiece. Caden Pfeil collected four shots. Belardo and Asier Olano each had three shots.

The Hawks (3-8-2, 3-5-2 GLVC) host Southwest Baptist Sunday afternoon.
