Hawks drop road opener at Newman

The Rockhurst men's soccer team ended the first weekend of the season with a 3-1 loss to the Newman Jets Sunday in Wichita, Kansas.

Freshman defender Evan Hill scored the Hawks' goal in the 59th minute with an assist from Riley Dubbs on a 10-yard shot.

Rockhurst posted seven shots and five shots on goal. Hill led the Hawks with two shots on goal. RU keeper Fabio D'Errico posted two saves.

Senior midfielder Carlos Bellosta Manchon scored all three of Newman's goals.

The Hawks (1-1) host Fort Hays State on Sunday at 3 p.m.
