Hawks collect 2-1 win at home over Fort Hays State

The Rockhurst men's soccer team wrapped up non-conference play with a 2-1 victory over Fort Hays State Sunday at Bourke Field.

Senior forward Tomasso Tirabassi gave the Hawks an early 1-0 lead when he scored on an 18-yard shot in the ninth minute with an assist from freshman midfielder Sam McIntosh.

Sophomore midfielder Daniele Bizzarri came off the bench to up the lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 86th minute on a tap-in from three yards off a pass from Cristoforo LiCavoli. Fort Hays State scored with 40 seconds left in the game on a header off a corner kick.

Fort Hays State outshot the Hawks, 17-8. Freshman forward Levi Caldwell and Tirabassi led the Hawks with two shots. Senior goalkeeper Fabio D'Errico made six saves for the Hawks.

Rockhurst (2-1) opens conference play on Friday against McKendree.
