Hawks post 3-2 win over 13th-ranked Bearcats

Sarah Pyle posted 21 kills and 10 digs to power Rockhurst to a 3-2 victory over 13th-ranked Northwest Missouri State in the Kansas City Classic Friday night at Mason-Halpin Field House.

Pyle helped the Hawks rally from an 11-9 deficit in the fifth set victory. The sophomore outside hitter tallied three kills to give Rockhurst a 13-11 lead. She also had a block on match point.

Rockhurst won the second and third sets, 25-14 and 25-16, to take a 2-1 lead. The Bearcats captured the first and fourth sets, 25-18 and 25-19.

Freshman Ali Olson collected 10 kills and nine blocks. Tera Reberry tallied nine kills and six blocks. Sydney Raszler added seven kills and six blocks.

Maureen Reilly had a game-high 31 digs. Sarah Montague and Molly Trachta combined for 47 assists and 10 digs.

Rockhurst finished with 54 kills, 68 digs and 15 blocks. The Hawks finished with a .236 hitting percentage, while Northwest Missouri hit .155.

Earlier in the day, Reberry and Pyle combined for 16 kills to lead Rockhurst to a 3-0 win over Kentucky Wesleyan. Trachta and Montague combined for 30 assists.

The Hawks close out play in the Kansas City Classic against Emporia State on Saturday.
