Rockhurst opens season with 3-1 win over Sioux Falls

Rockhurst opened the 2023 women's volleyball season with a 3-1 victory over Sioux Falls (S.D.) in the Kansas City Classic Thursday night at Mason-Halpin Field House.

The Hawks overcame three set points by Sioux Falls in the fourth set to close out the match with a 29-27 victory. Rockhurst won the first two sets, 25-17 and 25-21. Sioux Falls won the third set, 25-22.

Sarah Pyle led the Hawks with 16 kills and seven digs. Tera Reberry posted 15 kills and eight blocks. Lexi Theis tallied 11 kills, while Sydney Raszler added nine kills and six blocks.

Sarah Montague tallied 30 assists and 14 digs. Maureen Reilly had a team-high 19 digs.

Rockhurst finished with 63 kills, 63 digs and 11 blocks. The Hawks finished with a .306 hitting percentage, while Sioux Falls hit .230.

The Hawks play Kentucky Wesleyan and 13th-ranked Northwest Missouri State on Friday.
