Hawks sign grad transfer from Augustana College

Daniel Carr averaged 14.5 points and 10.8 rebounds in his senior year at Augustana.
Head coach Drew Diener announced the signing of Daniel Carr of Highlands Ranch, Colorado on Wednesday (May 3) to Rockhurst's 2023-24 men's basketball class.

Carr is a 6-9 center, who is a graduate transfer from Augustana College, a Division III school in Rock Island, Illinois. He averaged 14.5 points and 10.8 rebounds in his senior year. Carr shot 46.8 percent from the field, 38.0 percent from the 3-point line and 68.8 percent from the foul line. He also averaged a double-double in his sophomore and junior years.

"Daniel brings a great deal of experience to the front court," Diener said. "He had a super career up at Augustana. He has the ability to make shots from (behind the 3-point line) and be a force in the paint.

"He is very comfortable with the ball in his hands as a decision maker at many places on the floor. He is long, which makes him an excellent rebounder. His knack for getting the ball speaks to his motor and feel for the game."

A three-time All-Conference honoree, Carr became the 30th Augustana men's player to eclipse 1,000 points for a career. He finished last season ranked ninth in scoring, first in rebounding and sixth in blocks in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.

Carr was named D3Hoops.com All-Region for the second time in his career and was selected to the CSC Academic All-America Team with a 3.91 grade point average in Accounting and Business Administration-Management.
