Second-half run leads Hawks past 25th-ranked UMSL

A balanced scoring attack and strong board play led Rockhurst to an 85-77 victory over 25th-ranked Missouri-St. Louis Saturday in St. Louis.

Four players combined for 70 points to give the Hawks their third win over a nationally-ranked team this season and second win over UMSL this season.

Rockhurst outscored the Tritons 53-44 in the second half while shooting 59.3 percent from the field. The Hawks went on a 20-8 run after halftime to take a 52-41 lead and led by double figures over most of the final nine minutes.

Davit Kakushadze led the Hawks with 19 points on seven-of-10 shooting. The sophomore forward scored 12 points in the second half.

Rich Byhre posted 18 points, six rebounds and four assists. Timaris Brown collected 18 points and six rebounds. Jake Auer scored 15 points on six-of-nine shooting. Miles White added nine points, nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks.

Isaiah Fuller led UMSL (18-5, 10-5 GLVC) with 31 points.
