Byhre leads Hawks to overtime win over Truman

Rich Byhre scored a career-high 37 points to lead Rockhurst to a 91-82 overtime victory over Truman State Thursday night at Mason-Halpin Field House.

Byhre hit a driving layup and 3-pointer to give the Hawks an 84-76 lead with 1:52 left in overtime. Rockhurst secured the victory by connecting on seven-of-10 free throws in the final minute.

The Hawks closed the first half on a 13-4 run to cut Truman's lead to 43-37 at halftime. Rockhurst outscored the Bulldogs 39-33 in the second half with Byhre scoring 22 points.

Davit Kakushadze posted 16 points, six rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Nico Felici came off the bench to score 10 points on four-of-six shooting. Miles White tallied nine points and nine rebounds. Timaris Brown added seven points, three rebonunds and two steals.

Hunter Strait led Truman (12-15, 7-12 GLVC) with 20 points.
