Late run pushes Prairie Stars past Hawks

Illinois Springfield dominated the last two minutes to pull away for a 73-64 victory over Rockhurst Thursday night in Springfield, Illinois.

The Prairie Stars ended the game on a 13-2 over the final 3:05. Jordan Rice scored seven points down the stretch.

Springfield outscored the Hawks 39-30 in the second half. The Prairie Stars held Rockhurst to 33.3 percent in the final 20 minutes.

Davit Kakushadze led the Hawks with a season-high 25 points and six rebounds. The sophomore forward connected on 10-of-18 field goals.

Nick Arensberg scored 12 points on five-of-eight shooting. Rich Byhre collected 10 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Jihad Thornton added six points and three assists.

Jack Weber led Springfield (16-9, 10-7 GLVC) with 23 points.
