Second half runs carry Hawks past UMSL

Rockhurst scored 42 points in the second half to rally for a 62-46 victory over Missouri-St. Louis Saturday in St. Louis.

Down 29-20 at halftime, Rockhurst opened the second half on a 15-6 run to tie the score at 35-all at the 12:30 mark. The Hawks went on a 15-0 run to pull away for a 58-39 lead with 3:58 left in the game.

Rockhurst made 16-of-28 field goals in the second half and held UMSL to 17 points on 28.6 percent shooting over the final 20 minutes.

Davit Kakushadze scored 14 of his game-high 18 points in the second half. Miles White posted 12 points and four rebounds. Brian Hawthorne finished with 11 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.

The Hawks shot 46.3 percent from the field (25-of-54) and made five of 15 three-pointers (33.3 percent).
