McKendree rallies for 85-81 win over Hawks

McKendree rallied from a 12-point deficit in the second half to pull out an 85-81 victory over Rockhurst Thursday night in Lebanon, Illinois.

The Hawks jumped out to a 52-40 lead on a 3-pointer by Nico Felici at the 16:40 mark in the second half. The Bearcats went on a 20-8 run over the next five minutes to tie the score at 60-all.

McKendree's Milos Vicentic scored 21 of his game-high 30 points in the second half. His 3-pointer at the 6:43 mark put the Bearcats in front for good at 71-70.

Brian Hawthorne led the Hawks with 22 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals. The freshman guard made eight-of-17 field goals and three-of-six 3-pointers.

Davit Kakushadze finished with 21 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Jake Auer tallied eight points and six rebounds. Timaris Brown and Felici each scored eight points. Miles White added seven points and four rebounds.

The Hawks shot 40.0 percent from the field (28-of-70) and canned 13 of 26 three-pointers (50.0 percent).
