Three-point shooting leads Hawks past Avila

Rockhurst connected on a school-record 21 three-pointers in rolling to a 96-58 victory over Avila Monday night at Mason-Halpin Field House.

The Hawks went on an 11-0 run in the first half to take a 31-19 lead at the 11:21 mark. Timaris Brown and Davit Kakushadze combined for 30 points to lead Rockhurst to a 52-30 halftime lead.

Brown led the Hawks with 20 points, nine rebounds and three assists. The sophomore forward made seven-of-11 field goals and three-of-five 3-pointers.

Miles White scored 13 points on five-of-10 shooting. Kakushadze finished with 12 points. Jake Auer and Rron Thaci each scored nine points on three 3-pointers. Nick Arensberg added eight points.

The Hawks shot 57.9 percent from the field (33-of-57) and canned 21 of 37 three-pointers (56.8 percent).
