Hawks jump out early in 75-57 road win

Davit Kakushadze and Timaris Brown combined for 43 points to lead Rockhurst to a 75-57 victory over Missouri Southern Saturday in Joplin, Missouri.

Rockhurst jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first three minutes. The Hawks led 38-25 at halftime and took a 24-point lead, 67-43, at the 7:01 mark in the second half.

Kakushadze scored 22 points on 11-of-19 shooting. The junior forward also collected six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Brown, who made eight-of-13 field goals, posted 21 points and 10 rebounds.

Nick Arensberg tallied 16 points on six-of-eight shooting. Brian Hawthorne added eight points and seven rebounds.

The Hawks shot 52.6 percent from the field while scoring 46 points in the paint.
