Byhre carries Hawks to 62-60 win over Prairie Stars

Rich Byhre posted 28 points and seven rebounds to lead Rockhurst to a 62-60 victory over Illinois Springfield Saturday at Mason-Halpin Field House.

Byhre scored nine of the Hawks' final 14 points to rally Rockhurst from a 51-48 deficit with six minutes left. The junior forward made a pair of 3-point shots to give the Hawks a 54-42 lead at the 3:58 mark. Byhre made eight-of-17 field goal and connected on 10-of-11 foul shots. His two free throws gave the Hawks a 60-58 lead with 26 seconds left.

Miles White tallied nine points and five rebounds. Davit Kakushadze collected nine points and four rebounds.

Isaiah Esker led the Prairie Stars (9-5, 3-3 GLVC) with 15 points.
