Volleyball hosts St. Louis schools this weekend

The Hawks return home this weekend to face UMSL and Maryville.

The Rockhurst volleyball team returns to the friendly confines of Mason-Halpin Field House this weekend. The Hawks host Missouri-St. Louis Friday at 6 p.m. and meet Maryville at home at 3 p.m. Saturday.

The Hawks (9-3, 2-1 GLVC) are coming off a 3-1 loss at Missouri S&T last Saturday after pulling out a 3-2 win at Drury last Friday.

Junior libero Maureen Reilly is averaging a league-best 5.38 digs per set. Senior middle hitter Gracie LaForge ranks third in blocks per set in the GLVC. Junior right side hitter Tera Reberry is ninth in kills (3.15 per set) in the GLVC. Junior setter Sarah Montague ranks seventh in assists in the conference.

UMSL (10-4, 3-1 GLVC) is coming off a 3-1 victory over William Jewell last Saturday. The Tritons' lone conference loss was at Quincy on Sept. 17. Outside hitter Charlotte Richards leads UMSL with 4.14 kills per set.

The Tritons have won the last three meetings with Rockhurst. The Hawks own a 20-9 lead in the all-time series.

Maryville (11-5, 1-3 GLVC) has dropped four of its last six matches after starting the season with a 9-1 record. The Saints posted 3-1 win over Truman State last Saturday. Freshman outside hitter Ella Brinkmann ranks fifth in kills (3.50 per set) in the conference.

The Hawks have a perfect 13-0 record against Maryville since 2011.
