Hawks jump out early in racing to a 4-0 win at Jewell

Rockhurst scored three goals in the first 35 minutes on the way to a 4-0 victory over William Jewell in a men's soccer conference opener Sunday in Liberty, Missouri.

The victory gives the Hawks a 2-0 lead over Jewell in the inaugural Kansas City Crown series.

Rockhurst keeper Andrea Dorella posted his third shutout of the season while making three saves.

Cristoforo LiCavoli opened the scoring with a goal in the 13th minute. He connected from 15 yards out for his first goal of the season.

Josh Lindell scored on a header in the box off a corner kick from Ben Andoh in the 25th minute Chase Klusman made it 3-0 with a shot from 30 yards out with 10:01 left in the first half.

Freshman Kaden Cripe added a second half goal in the 65th minute off a free kick from Andoh.

Rockhurst posted nine shots on goal. Parker Esparza and LiCavoli led RU with two shots each.

The Hawks (2-0-2) return to conference play on Friday night at Southwest Baptist.
