Hawks face Newman in home opener

The Hawks host Newman on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

The Rockhurst men's soccer team hopes to break into the win column this week after opening the season with a scoreless tie at Colorado-Colorado Springs last Friday. The Hawks travel to Fort Hays State today (3 p.m.) and host Newman on Sunday (2:30 p.m.).

Fort Hays State (1-1) is coming off a 2-0 loss at UC-Colorado Springs last Sunday. The Tigers were ranked seventh in the NCAA Division II preseason poll.

The Hawks are looking for their first win over the Tigers since posting a 1-0 win in Hays, Kansas in the quarterfinals of the 2016 NCAA Tournament.

Newman (0-2) opened the season with lopsided losses to Oklahoma Christian, 7-1, and Colorado State-Pueblo, 5-1. Rockhurst has won four of the last five meetings since 1998.
