Early goals carry Roos to 2-1 win over Hawks

The Rockhurst men's soccer team fell short by a 2-1 count at Missouri-Kansas City in exhibition action Saturday night at UMKC's Durwood Soccer Stadium.

The Roos scored two goals in the first 12 minutes of the game to take an early 2-0 lead. The Hawks made it 2-1 when senior midfielder Parker Esparza found the nets from 12 yards with assists from Cristoforo LiCavoli and Blake Mann with 2:16 left in the opening half.

The Hawks outshot the Roos, 10-8, including 4-2 in the second half. Senior midfielder Tomasso Tirabassi led Rockhurst with two shots on goal. Freshman forward Kaden Cripe finished with two shots and one shot goal.

Senior goalkeeper Andrea Dorella finished with three saves in the first half, including two in the first half.

Rockhurst will open the 2022 regular season on Friday, Aug, 26 at Colorado-Colorado Springs.
