Jones holds SBU to one hit in 4-0 victory

Senior right-hander Thomas Jones held Southwest Baptist to one hit and struck out 13 to lead Rockhurst to a 4-0 victory Friday night at Loyola Park.

Jones only allowed three baserunners over nine innings. He gave up a one-out double in the third and walked two in the eighth and ninth. He struck out two hitters in five of his nine innings.

The Hawks scored two runs in the second on a fielder's choice grounder by Cameron Gardner and a throwing error by the SBU second baseman. Devon Farrell hit an RBI double and Hoyt Bennett added an RBI single in the eighth.

Connor Ellefson led the Hawks with two hits. Rockhurst (17-30, 7-18 GLVC) and SBU (8-38, 3-22 GLVC) will play a doubleheader at noon Saturday.
