Rockhurst women challenge No. 8 Lions

The Rockhurst women gave eighth-ranked Lindenwood all it could handle in a 20-10 loss over the Lions Saturday at Bourke Field.

The Hawks kept the score close until the fourth period when the Lions outscored Rockhurst 6-1 in the final 15 minutes. Lindenwood led 9-6 at halftime and still led by three at 12-9 with 3:52 left in the third period.

Helen Krause led the Hawks with three goals on four shots. Logan Derosia scored two goals on five shots. Dani Mabry tallied two points on goal and one assist. Christine Corbin had a team-high 21 draw controls, two ground balls and one goal. Mackenzie Blair posted four ground balls and three assists. Madison Cook added three caused turnovers and two ground balls.

Rockhurst finished with 20 shots and 16 ground balls. Sydney Shindler and Madeline Morrison combined for 11 saves.
