Hawks fall at home to No. 18 Mavericks

Colorado Mesa held Rockhurst scoreless over the final 21 minutes to pull away for a 10-5 victory over the Hawks Saturday at RU's Bourke Field.

The 18th-ranked Mavericks opened the game on a 4-0 run and ended the game on a 4-0 run to improve their record to 10-3.

Rockhurst went on a 5-2 run to cut Mesa's lead to 6-5 with 6:25 left in the third period. The Mavericks scored three goals in three minutes early in the fourth period.

Jack Vande Ven led the Hawks with three goals on four shots. Grant Brunsvold scored two points on one goal and one assist.

Alec Heflin had a team-high six shots. Luke Goetz and Luke Leonard combined for five ground balls and two caused turnovers. Hayden Harris finished with 19 saves.

The Hawks (6-5) play at Quincy on Tuesday, April 19.
