Bearcats rally for 7-6 win over Hawks

McKendree rallied to edge Rockhurst 7-6 in the opening game of a four-game series Friday in Lebanon, Illinois.

The Bearcats scored two runs in the seventh to tie the score at 3-3 and tallied the winning run with a one-out double in the eighth.

Hoyt Bennett led the Hawks with three hits and two RBIs. The sophomore catcher hit a two-run double in the third and added a run-scoring single in the sixth.

Freshman Michael Laudando posted two hits, including a first inning solo home run. Freshman Cole Wagner gave the Hawks a 4-3 lead with a two-run single in the fifth.

Roman Sherman held McKendree to three runs on six hits over 4.0 innings. Thomas Jones (0-3) suffered the loss.
