Rockhurst and Upper Iowa split a doubleheader at Loyola Park on Monday. The Hawks won the first game 2-0 and dropped the second game 5-4.
Game One: RU 2, Upper Iowa 0
Freshman right-hander Michael Laudando shut out the Peacocks on six hits over seven innings while recording 10 strikeouts. The Hawks scored both of their runs in the third inning.
Game Two: Upper Iowa 5, RU 4
Upper Iowa rallied to score three runs in their final two at-bats to leave Kansas City with a split of the four-game series. The Peacocks scored the winning run in the seventh with the aid of an outfield error.
- Freshman center fielder Adonis Forte went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
- Junior right-hander Jake Canent held the Peacocks to three runs on seven hits and struck out seven over 5.1 innings.
