Hawks drop season opener to No. 1 Lions

Rockhurst opened the 2022 season with a 16-4 loss to No. 1-ranked Lindenwood Wednesday at Bourke Field. The Lions are the defending NCAA Division II national champions.

Lindenwood scored the first nine goals of the game and took a 9-1 lead into halftime. Logan Derosia scored on a free-shot position shot with 30 seconds left in the first half.

The Hawks added unassisted three goals in the fourth quarter on goals by Addison Bradley, Derosia and Dani Mabry.

Derosia led the Hawks with two goals on four shots. Mabry and Bradley each had three shots. Audrey Titzer collected three ground balls. Christine Corbin had a team-high four draw controls and Madison Cook led the team with three caused turnovers.

Rockhurst finished with 16 shots and 11 ground balls. Sydney Shindler and Madeline Morrison combined for 14 saves.
