Hawks win season opener over Quincy

Ten different players scored goals to lead 18th-ranked Rockhurst to a season-opening 21-9 victory over Quincy Saturday at RU's Bourke Field.

The Hawks scored the first six goals of the game and led 13-2 at halftime. Ricky Bloom and Brooks Hanson combined for six goals and two assists in the first half.

Bloom finished with four goals and two assists. Hanson scored four goals. Grant Brunsvold tallied three goals and three assists. Sam Lindahl tacked on two goals and four assists. Alec Heflin had three goals and one assist. Brady Noernberg added one goal and two assists. 

Zach Cegielski won 18-of-31 faceoffs and collected nine ground balls. Luke Goetz posted five ground balls and five caused turnovers. Matt Buckley added four ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Rockhurst (1-0) outshot Quincy (0-1), 63-28. Heflin led the Hawks with nine shots, while Brunsvold added eight shots. Hayden Harris and Boomer Kubik combined 14 saves.
