The Rockhurst baseball team broke into the victory column on Saturday against Bemidji State at the Creighton Prep Baseball Field in Omaha, Nebraska. The Hawks started the day with a 1-0 win and posted a 6-4 win in the second game.
Game One: RU 1, Bemidji State 0
Clayton Medlin shut down Bemidji State on four hits over seven innings. The junior right-hander struck out 12 and walked four in his second start of the season. Medlin ended the game with a strikeout with two men on base.
- Freshman shortstop Austin Murray singled home the winning run in the third inning.
- Jack Burns reached base twice on walks and stole a base in the fifth inning.
Game Two: RU 6, Bemidji State 4
Rockhurst scored four runs in the first inning on a pair of two-run doubles by Tommy Kraus and Michael Laudando. Malik Stevenson added an RBI double in the fourth and a run-scoring single in the sixth.
- Freshman Ethan Kulpinski was the winning pitcher. He allowed two runs on one hit over five innings. Senior Thomas Jones got the last four outs to pick up the save.
- Stevenson, Laudando and Devon Farrell each had two hits.
