Big run leads Hawks to 76-39 win over Avila

Rockhurst scored 30 unanswered points in cruising to a 76-39 victory over Avila Saturday at Mason-Halpin Field House.

The Hawks ended the first half on a 15-0 to take a 26-21 halftime lead. Rockhurst tallied the first 15 points in the second half to take a 51-21 lead with 17:07 left to play.

Aidan Clarey led the Hawks with 12 points on four 3-pointers in the first half. Freshmen Miles White and Timaris Brown combined for 22 points and 15 rebounds.

Rich Byhre tallied nine points and eight rebounds in only 23 minutes. Jake Auer and Davit Abuladze combined for 16 points and four 3-point field goals. Jihad Thornton collected six assists and four steals for the second game in a row.

Rockhurst shot 36.4 percent from the field (24-of-66) and 77.3 percent from the foul line (17-of-22). The Eagles made 13-of-50 shots from the field (26.0 percent).

Jaylin Dinkins led Avila (2-11) with 10 points.
