Byhre powers Hawks past Manhattan Christian

Rich Byhre scored 25 points and collected 16 rebounds to lead Rockhurst to an 85-66 victory over Manhattan Christian College Thursday at Mason-Halpin Field House.

Miles White and Nico Felici combined for four 3-pointers during a 22-4 run in the second half to give the Hawks a 78-59 lead with 4:46 left.

The Hawks rallied from a 23-10 deficit to go into halftime tied at 41-all. Byhre had 15 points and nine rebounds in the first half.

Jake Auer tallied 15 points behind three 3-pointers. Timaris Brown posted 15 points on seven-of-10 shooting. White added 13 points and six rebounds. Jihad Thornton collected six assists and four steals.

Rockhurst shot 45.1 percent from the field (32-of-71) and 63.6 percent from the foul line (14-of-22). The Thunder made 24-of-64 shots from the field (37.5 percent).

Ferdinand Handy Jr. led Manhattan Christian (5-5) with 15 points.
