Byhre leads Hawks to 83-72 win over Davenport

Rich Byhre posted 24 points and 10 rebounds to lead Rockhurst to an 83-72 victory over Davenport in the GLIAC/GLVC Challenge Saturday in Hammond, Indiana.

The Hawks jumped out to a 46-33 halftime lead and opened the second half on a 23-15 run to take a 69-48 lead at the 12:27 mark.

Byhre connected on 10-of-13 field goals, including canning four 3-pointers. Jake Auer finished with 13 points, including nine in the second half. Freshman Timaris Brown scored eight of his 12 points in the second half.

Freshman Miles White tallied eight points and seven rebounds. Jihad Thornton had a team-high five assists and three steals.

Rockhurst shot 50.0 percent from the field (30-of-60) and 72.2 percent from the foul line (13-of-18).

Coach Drew Diener:
"I was happy with how we competed today. We were great on the glass and were low on turnovers (8); that was the key today. We won the possession battle, which is always big."
