Volleyball hits the road this weekend

The Hawks return to the road this weekend.

Two challenging road games await the Rockhurst volleyball team this weekend. The Hawks play at McKendree Friday at 6 p.m. and travel to Indianapolis at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The Hawks (10-4, 3-2 GLVC) are coming off a 3-0 victory over Maryville last Saturday after falling to Missouri-St. Louis, 3-0, last Friday.

Junior libero Maureen Reilly continues to lead the GLVC in digs (5.34 per set). Senior middle hitter Gracie LaForge ranks fourth in blocks per set in the GLVC. Junior right side hitter Tera Reberry stands eighth in kills and 10th in points in the conference. Junior setter Sarah Montague ranks seventh in assists and ninth in service aces in the GLVC.

McKendree (7-9, 3-3 GLVC) is coming off a 3-1 victory at William Jewell last Saturday. The Bearcats also own wins over Indianapolis and Illinois Springfield. Brianna Binder leads McKendree with 3.52 kills per set.

The Hawks have won the last four meetings with the Bearcats and own a 7-3 lead in the series since 2013.

Indianapolis (10-6, 3-2 GLVC) has won its last three matches. The Greyhounds posted a 3-2 win over 25th-ranked Quincy last Friday. Makenna Barnhart ranks seventh in digs (4.48 per set) in the conference.

The Hawks have won five in a row over Indy and hold a 12-5 record against the Greyhounds since 2012.
