Women rally for 4-3 win over Washburn

The Rockhurst women's tennis team rallied to edge Washburn, 4-3, in their season opener Saturday at the Plaza Tennis Center.
 
Dani Lentisco and Dina Dudic won their singles matches to rally the Hawks from a 3-2 deficit. Lentisco  won her No. 4 singles match in three sets over Lara Schmid, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. Dudic was a winner in three sets in No. 6 singles, defeating Isabella Pensavalle, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4.

Sofia Valdespino and Andrea Dabbah earlier collected wins in singles. Valdespino was a 6-3, 6-4 winner in No. 1 singles over Marta Torres. Dabbah won her No. 5 singles match over Maddie Shelley, 6-2, 6-1.

The No. 3 doubles team of Maria Baez Chacon and Dudic defeated WU's Shelley and Pensavalle by a 6-2 score.

The Hawks (1-0) will host William Jewell at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Plaza Tennis Center.
