Men's Soccer awaits tough road games

Jacopo Belardo (11) scored the winning goal last Sunday.
With two weeks left in the regular season, the Rockhurst men's soccer team makes its final road trip this weekend. The Hawks play at Illinois Springfield Friday (3:30 p.m.) and at Lewis on Sunday (2:30 p.m.).

Rockhurst is now 6-2-3 overall after splitting two games at home last weekend. The Hawks are tied for second place in the GLVC with a 5-2-1 record.

Illinois Springfield (4-3-4, 3-1-4 GLVC) is coming off a 7-0 win over Quincy on Sunday. The Prairie Stars are 3-0-3 in their last six games.

Rockhurst leads the series 8-3-1 since 2009. Springfield has won the last two meetings by 2-1 scores.

Lewis (7-3-1, 5-2-1 GLVC) is enjoying a three-game winning streak. The Flyers have outscored their opponents, 15-8.

Rockhurst holds an 14-12-4 advantage over the Flyers since 1998. The Hawks have won nine of their last 13 meetings with Lewis.

"These are going to be tough games, especially with how it means in terms of conference standings. Our team needs to be ready to play both Friday and Sunday. We need to win both games," said Rockhurst coach Tony Tocco, who has 725 career wins.

Live stats and live streaming will be available for both games. Check the Rockhurst web site for the game links.
