Auer leads Hawks to home win over Lindenwood

Jake Auer scored 17 of his game-high 20 points in the second half to rally Rockhurst a 72-63 victory over Lindenwood Saturday at Mason-Halpin Field House.

Auer connected on three consecutive 3-point field goals to give the Hawks a 50-44 lead with 10:37 left to play. The sophomore guard added his sixth 3-pointer of the game to put the Hawks in front 63-59 at the 3:14 mark.

Rockhurst closed the game on a 9-2 run. The Hawks made six-of-eight three throws while holding the Lions to 0-for-6 shooting from the field over the final three minutes.

Nick Volz finished with 15 points, seven rebounds and three assists. The senior forward connected on five-of-nine field goals and five-of-seven free throws.

Jihad Thornton tallied 12 points and two steals. Maxim Romanov collected 10 points and nine rebounds. Nick Arensberg and Charlie Hoehne combined for 12 points off the bench.

"We had multiple guys step up today and got great minutes off the bench," said Rockhurst coach Drew Diener. "Our defense and disruption of rhythm in the second half was big. We didn't rebound great, but our low turnover day was exceptional."
