Hot shooting leads Hawks to 78-71 win over Drury

The Rockhurst men jumped out to a 16-point lead midway into the second half on the way to a 78-71 victory over Drury Saturday at Mason-Halpin Field House.

The Hawks closed the first half on a 17-6 run to go into halftime with a 29-24 lead. Rockhurst opened the second half on a 26-15 run to take a 55-39 lead with 10:19 left to play.

"We needed to get that win today after losing our last two times out," said Rockhurst coach Drew Diener. "(Drury) got us pretty good down there last month. I think our guys remembered that and were determined to have a different outcome. I give our guys a lot of credit because this was a pretty disjointed couple of weeks with our Covid situation."
