Hawks finish strong at Washburn Invitational

The Rockhurst volleyball team posted a 3-0 victory over Cameron (25-17, 25-16, 25-14) Saturday in the Washburn Invitational in Topeka, Kansas.

Averi Vomastic led the 25th-ranked Hawks with 23 kills and 25.5 points. Maureen Reilly had a team-high nine digs. Gabbie Inman and Sarah Montague combined for 37 assists and 13 digs.
 
Inside the Box Score
• Rockhurst posted a .394 hitting percentage, while holding Cameron to an .207 hitting percentage.
• Logan Gronewold collected a team-high six blocks.
• Rockhurst enjoyed a 46-31 edge in total kills and held a 62-38 advantage in points.

In their second match on Friday, the Hawks posted a 3-1 victory over Colorado-Colorado Springs (29-27, 25-15, 24-26, 25-12). Vomastic paced the Hawks with 16 kills, 18 points and nine digs. Tera Reberry posted 15 kills, 19.5 points and seven digs. Inman led the way with 24 assists and 13 digs. Montague added 19 assists.

• Rockhurst finished with a .357 hitting percentage.
• Reilly (12) and Sophia Moes (11) collected double-digit digs.
• Morgan Conner and Gracie LaForge combined for 16 kills while only making four hitting errors.

All-Tournament Team
Vomastic and Conner were both named to the Washburn Invitational All-Tournament Team. Vomastic posted 67 kills and 27 digs. Conner finished with 29 kills and 11 blocks.
 
On Deck
The Hawks (3-1) play Concordia-St. Paul and Cal State-San Bernardino on Sept. 10 in Denver.
