Rockhurst rallies for 3-2 win over No. 6 Cal State-San Bernardino

Rockhurst won the last two sets to rally for a 3-2 victory over sixth-ranked California State-San Bernardino (12-25, 27-25, 23-25, 25-22, 15-13) Friday in the Colorado Premier Challenge in Denver.

Averi Vomastic led the 25th-ranked Hawks with 15 kills and 19.5 points. Vomastic ended the match with a kill in the fifth set.

Maureen Reilly collected 20 digs, seven assists and three service aces. Justice Wingate tallied 11 kills and six blocks. Sarah Montague posted 26 assists and 10 digs.
 
Inside the Box Score
• Rockhurst posted a .196 hitting percentage, while San Bernardino finished with a .222 hitting percentage.
• Freshman Gracie LaForge totaled nine kills with a .444 hitting percentage.
• The Hawks took control early in the fifth set and enjoyed three-point leads on five occasions.

In their second match on Friday, the Hawks fell to No. 1-ranked Concordia-St. Paul (14-25, 25-18, 25-17, 26-24). Vomastic led the Hawks with 14 kills. seven digs and 16 points. Reilly posted 11 digs and two service aces. Gabbie Inman tallied 20 assists and eight digs. Montague added 16 assists.

• Rockhurst finished with a .211 hitting percentage, while CSP hit .218.
• Morgan Conner collected eight kills with a .438 hitting percentage.
• Justice Wingate and Tera Reberry combined for 17 kills while hitting .250.

On Deck
The Hawks (4-2) will play two more matches in pool play on Saturday in the Colorado Premier Challenge.
