Hawks clinch third seed in GLVC Tournament

Rockhurst completed a weekend sweep of William Jewell with a 4-0 victory over the Cardinals Sunday in Liberty, Missouri.

The Hawks (23-17, 20-16 GLVC) clinched the third seed in the GLVC West Division and will take a seven-game winning streak into the GLVC Tournament. The Hawks will face Indianapolis (21-19) in the first game in the GLVC Tournament at 9 a.m. Thursday in St. Charles, Missouri.

Rockhurst scored four unearned runs in the third inning to take a 4-0 lead at Jewell. Nathan Mark doubled home the second run after a throwing error brought home the first run. Ty Herrenbruck followed with an RBI triple and Tyler Stamer hit a run-scoring single.

Garrett McNally led the 12-hit attack with three hits. Ethan Kleinheider, Herrenbruck and Stamer each posted two hits.

Michael Hellman (2-2) allowed one run on three hits over four innings coming out of the bullpen. Luke Lancaster pitched the final 2.2 innings to pick up his fifth save of the season.
