Volleyball signs junior college All-American

Gracie LaForge was an All-American at Johnson County CC.

Head volleyball coach Trent Jones announced the signing of Gracie LaForge of Grain Valley, Missouri on Monday (May 3).

LaForge is a 5-foot-9 outside hitter who has played the past two seasons at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas. She was a first team All-American this past season while averaging 2.59 kills and ranked 17th in the nation with a .359 hitting percentage for the national champion Cavaliers.

"We are very excited to add such a quality student-athlete to our program," Jones said. "Gracie has excelled both in the classroom and on the court everywhere she has been. Coming off a national championship, Gracie is playing at an extreme high level. She will be able to contribute to our program the moment she steps on campus."

LaForge closed out her junior-college career with 528 kills, 171 digs and 151 blocks at Johnson County. She received the team's Cavalier Award in 2019-20 for being someone who they thought represented their school athletically, academically, and as a person.

In high school, LaForge was a 4.0 student and excelled in track and field along with being the team MVP in volleyball.

"Gracie is a tirelessly hard worker, and she never takes a play off. We are thrilled to add her to an already talented roster in 2021 and look forward to our upcoming season," added Jones.
