Pitching carries Hawks to sweep over Truman

Tommy Kraus drove in five runs and Jack Eisenbarger collected nine strikeouts to lead Rockhurst to a 7-2 victory over Truman State in the first game of a conference doubleheader Saturday at RU's Loyola Park.

Kraus gave the Hawks a 2-1 lead with a two-run single in the fifth. He capped the scoring with a three-run home run to right field in the sixth.

Tyler Stamer broke a 2-2 tie with a two-out RBI single to left-center in the sixth. Brandt Callahan followed with run-scoring single to give Rockhurst a 4-2 lead.

Eisenbarger (8-1) went the distance, allowing two runs on six hits over seven innings.

The Hawks completed the sweep with a 4-2 win in the second game. Cameron Gardner led the nine-hit attack with three hits and three RBIs.

Gardner and Garrett McNally hit back-to-back home runs to left field in the third inning. Gardner added a run-scoring infield single in the fourth.

Ty Herrenbruck opened the scoring with a run-scoring double in the first. Stamer posted two hits to increase his team-leading batting average to .355.

Clayton Medlin (1-1) allowed one run on two hits in 5.2 innings. Luke Lancaster got the final four outs to pick up his fourth save of the season.

Truman won the first game of the series, 16-5, Friday night.

The Hawks (18-17, 15-16 GLVC) close out the series with Truman State on Sunday, May 2.
