Indianapolis jumped out to an early lead and held off a Rockhurst rally in the fourth quarter for a 13-8 victory Sunday in Indianapolis.
The 11th-ranked Greyhounds scored four goals in the first period and took a 9-3 lead into halftime, Indy took a 13-5 lead into the fourth period.
Alec Heflin scored two goals in the first two minutes of the fourth quarter to cut Indy's lead to six. The Greyhounds held Rockhurst to one goal over the final 12:55.
Heflin led the 13th-ranked Hawks with four goals on 11 shots.
Sam Lindahl finished with three goals on 10 shots.
Kai Trujillo had one goal on seven shots.
Nick Mostrom and
Sal Valdivia combined to win 15-of-23 faceoffs and collect 10 ground balls.
Graden Soucy tallied four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Rockhurst (3-1) outshot Indy (3-0), 51-38. The Hawks only connected on two-of-seven extra man opportunities.
Boomer Kubik finished with 12 saves for the Hawks, who return home to face Maryville on Saturday.
