Rockhurst falls short against No. 20 Maryville

Rockhurst rallied to score six goals in the fourth quarter before running out of time in an 11-8 loss to Maryville Saturday at RU's Bourke Field.

The 20th-ranked Saints (4-0) scored the first eight goals of the game and led 10-2 going into the fourth quarter.

Kai Trujillo and Ricky Bloom combined to score five unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to cut Maryville's lead to 11-8 with 7:27 left in the game.

Trujillo led the 13th-ranked Hawks (3-2) with four goals and one assist. Bloom and Blake Bellinger both finished with two goals. John Myran posted three assists.

Nick Mostrom and Sal Valdivia combined to win 17-of-22 faceoffs and collect 13 ground balls. Luke Goetz and Brady Noernberg combined for seven ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Rockhurst outshot Maryville, 37-34. Trujillo had a team-high 11 shots. Bellinger and Myran added seven and six shots, respectively.

Boomer Kubik finished with 12 saves for the Hawks, who host 15th-ranked Lindenwood on Saturday.
