Saints end weekend with 4-2 win over Hawks

Maryville scored two runs in the eighth inning to end the weekend with a 4-2 victory over Rockhurst Sunday in St. Louis.

The Saints broke a 2-2 tie with a one-out RBI double and a two-out single in the eighth. Maryville thwarted a Hawk rally with a game-ending double play in the ninth.

Rockhurst's Tyler Stamer tied the score at 1-1 with a run-scoring single in the fifth. Nathan Mark added an RBI single in the sixth to even the score at 2-2.

Mark, Garrett McNally and Connor Ellefson combined for six of the Hawks' nine hits.

Luke Lancaster (1-1) allowed three runs on six hits over the final four innings. Jack Eisenbarger held the Saints to one run on five hits over the first four innings.

Rockhurst (6-6, 3-5 GLVC) opens a four-game series at Southwest Baptist on Friday.
