Lindenwood holds off Hawks for 7-3 victory

The 11th-ranked Lindenwood Lions scored four goals in the third period on the way to a 7-3 victory over 19th-ranked Rockhurst Saturday at RU's Bourke Field.

Rockhurst took a 2-1 lead on a Ricky Bloom goal at the 3:29 mark of the second quarter. The Lions tied the score two minutes later as the first half ended in a 2-2 tie.

The Lions scored three goals over a four-minute span late in the third period to take a 6-2 lead. Lindenwood went up 7-2 with another goal early in the fourth quarter.

Bloom led the Hawks with three points on two goals and one assist. Kai Trujillo scored one goal on four shots.

Nick Mostrom won six-of-seven faceoffs and collected a team-high four ground balls. Brady Noernberg and Luke Goetz combined for six ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Lindenwood (5-1) outshot Rockhurst, 46-23. The Lions had a 25-9 edge in shots in the second half.

Hayden Harris finished with 20 saves for the Hawks (3-3), who next play at Davenport on Saturday, March 27.
