McKendree edges Hawks with overtime goal

McKendree converted on a free position shot in overtime to edge Rockhurst, 13-12, in a conference opener for both schools Sunday at RU's Bourke Field.

Rockhurst scored seven unanswered goals to take a 9-2 lead with 8:57 left in the first half. McKendree rallied in the second half from a 10-4 deficit to tie the score at 11-all with 8:54 left to play.

The Hawks retook the lead on a goal from Shay Morgan at the 4:26 mark. The Bearcats tied it up again with 1:56 on the clock.

Logan Derosia and Addison Bradley each scored four points on three goals and one assist to lead the Hawks. Derosia scored on two free position shots, including scoring her 100th career goal.

Helen Krause finished with two goals and one assist. Catey Roux added two assists and one goal.

Mackenzie Blair posted eight grounds balls and six caused turnovers. Christine Corbin collected five draw controls. Nia Callion totaled four caused turnovers.

Olivia Collier tallied five ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers. Sydney Shindler had six saves and four ground balls.

The Hawks (2-2) host 12th-ranked Regis on Saturday.
