Hawks return top four scorers from last season

Junior attacker Logan Derosia has scored 87 goals over the past two seasons.
The Rockhurst women's lacrosse team is already off to a fast start in 2021. The Hawks opened the 2021 season with a 16-9 victory at Benedictine Tuesday night.

This will be the second year in the Great Lakes Valley Conference for the Hawks, but will be the first year in playing GLVC opponents. Rockhurst got off to a 4-4 start when the 2020 season was cut short due to Covid-19 just prior to playing conference games.

The Hawks returns their top four scorers from last year. Rockhurst averaged 14.9 goals per game and held opponents to 10.5 goals per game in 2020.

Junior attacker Logan Derosia, the 2019 RMAC Freshman of the Year, has scored 87 goals the last two seasons. Senior midfielder Marianna Anderson, who tallied 63 goals over the prior two seasons, led the Hawks with five goals in their win over Benedictine.

Senior attacker Helen Krause, sophomore attacker Danielle Mabry combined for 25 goals and 23 assists last year. Senior Emelia Boillat is another strong attacker. Providing scoring from the midfield will come from Olivia Collier, Madison Cook and Addison Bradley.

Leading the defense will be a trio of sophomores (Mackenzie Blair, Katelyn Kochanowski and Audrey Titzer) and junior Nia Callion. The starting goalie will be sophomore Sydney Shindler.

The Hawks (1-0) host Alabama-Huntsville (1-1) in their home opener Saturday at 1 p.m.
